Senator invites nominee to visit Missouri’s defense installations
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after meeting with General James Mattis, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Defense:
“I was glad to have the opportunity to sit down with General Mattis—who has a long record of distinguished service to this country—to discuss our shared priorities for keeping this country safe, and advancing America’s interests around the world. And I was happy to invite him to visit Missouri’s military installations, to see firsthand the critical role our state plays in our national security.”
