Two Mid-Missouri students accepted to U.S. Service Academies

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill announced today that two mid-Missouri students were accepted to prestigious U.S. service academies.Brandon Hodges from Hallsville High School was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Paige Luebbering from Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City was accepted to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
These students were two of 21 students from Missouri accepted to service academies this year. They were accepted based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service and leadership. A committee of current and retired Armed Force members, educators, service academy alumni and community leaders in Missouri helped McCaskill in the selection process for the service academies.
“These students are leaders in their communities, and supporting their dedication to serving our country is one of my greatest privileges as a senator,” said McCaskill in a news release.
Hodges was captain of the drum line and treasurer of the student council. During his freshman year at MU, he was involved in Army ROTC.
Luebbering was vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America, a student council member and class secretary. She also founded the women’s golf team at Blair Oaks High School and played basketball for four years.
