McCaskill Hosts Health Care Listening Forums in Warrensburg and Jefferson City

McCaskill hosts events to listen to concerns related to health care reform efforts

Warrensburg | Jeff. City

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As more and more Americans and businesses struggle to afford health care coverage, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill has been hearing from Missourians who are concerned about health care reform efforts in Washington.  During the August home work period, McCaskill will be traveling across the state hosting a series of town hall events and roundtables to gather input and listen to concerns.

On Wednesday, August 26, McCaskill will be traveling across the state to host health care forums in Warrensburg and Jefferson City.  Visit McCaskill’s website to sign up to attend the Warrensburg forum or the Jefferson City forum. McCaskill has already hosted forums in Kennett, Poplar Bluff and Jefferson County. Forums are scheduled for Monday, August 24th in Hannibal, Moberly, and Kansas City. Additional events are scheduled for the rest of the work period for a total of ten open forums across the state. For more information, please contact one of McCaskill’s five Missouri offices.
McCaskill is committed to reforming health care in America in a way that does not add to the federal deficit. As the health care reform bill makes its way through the relevant Senate committees, McCaskill will be looking for a bill that provides consumer choices, brings down the overall cost of health care and delivers better outcomes for patients. During her listening tour, she intends to gather Missourians’ views on health care and take them back with her when she returns to Washington to debate the health care bill in the fall.
Constituents are highly encouraged to register for the events. Depending on the turn-out, there may be more people wishing to attend the event than there is capacity to hold them.  Seating may be limited and will be first come, first serve. Additional events will be advised in the next few days.
Individuals with disabilities who require auxiliary aids or services to participate in this event should contact Terri Bar at 816-421-1639 for the Warrensburg event and Crystal Quade at 417-868-8745 for the event in Jefferson City, no later than Monday, August 24, 2009.
