McCaskill Statement on Transparency in Health Care Reform Negotiations
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill made the following statement today regarding transparency in the health care reform negotiations:
"Hundreds of hours of debate on health care reform - both in committee hearings and on the Senate and House floors - have been open to the public through broadcast on C-SPAN. As I said to Channel 4 in St. Louis on Monday, it's my opinion that we should open up any further negotiations between the House and the Senate to C-SPAN so the public can watch. I believe that the best way for these negotiations to occur is through the conference committee process, and I have communicated my opinion to the leadership of my party in the Senate," McCaskill said.
